A copywriter's story
"Writing is easy. Staring at a blank screen is hard."
Everybody's got a story to inspire others.
Mine is not more special than yours, but it did steer me to the path of writing, an epic journey gorged with dragons and spooks that are not even near as bad as the arch-nemesis of all who write: ourselves.
My pen name is Sotiris E. Angel and you'll see it on my first book when it's published. I am a copywriter working out of Cyprus and this is my story:
When I entered the white-collar workforce right at the peak of the 2008 financial crisis, I was in for a surprise. Having invested time, effort and hope in acquiring a spotless business background, I came to realize that the world had changed in a span of a few months, and raw business knowledge had little value to offer anymore.
I struggled in a labor market that looked down on inexperienced business graduates yet expected them to utilize that knowledge and make it big as a white-collar fat cat, Boiler-Room style.
Working minimum wage in jobs in which I was way overqualified was a bummer. Broke, unmotivated and unappreciated, and having lived in a car for 2 weeks, forced me to challenge my cherished beliefs and create new values for myself as I struggled to catch up.
I got pushed around from one field to another, worked hard, and saw that working hard was not directly related to rewards, whether in money or in recognition.
That's when I realized that I was gaining incredible insight into human psychology and how society really worked.
I discovered that hard work doesn't matter. You can break rocks all day but if that doesn't provide anyone with value, it doesn't matter. We were taught the false belief that we are rewarded based on how hard we work, when in fact the wealthiest people don't seem to be struggling to make ends meet more than your typical pencil pusher.
I understood what pays is smart work, not hard work. It's the amount of value you provide to others that represents you exact reward in society, not how many useless degrees you got for yourself without wondering how they can help you to help others.
What does that have to do with copywriting?
Well, I realized that I was good with words. Not in a literary sense (I am no Shakespeare!), but in the sense of picking the right words and forming the right strategy of expression to help people find solutions to their personal, financial or professional problems.
Long story short, I now write copy to help professionals increase their revenue with an impactful message that engages and helps them help their audience.

Maybe we can learn something from each other's story.
Copywriting for me is a way of helping others work smarter, and not harder, and I hope that my story inspires you to do that.
Allow me to sum up:
I am a copywriter extraordinaire by day and future best-selling author by night.
I deliver copywriter services that make a difference to professionals who see the value in outsourcing their written salesmanship (also known as "copy").
My methodology involves understanding as much as I can about you and what you do, then research your audience and competition to structure and deliver the right words that make an impact. And I am great at it!
My returning clients can't be wrong, right?
I come from a business background and my experience consists of B2B sales copy, web copy, ghost blogging and editing.
When I am not writing copy, I am working on a non-fiction book with fiction-style narration. Its subject: human relationships dynamics.

I succeed when my clients succeed. I want to make a difference by helping others make a difference.
